of 7— Set up a Claude Project for RFP work
What you'll accomplish
By the end of this guide, you'll be able to upload a prior RFP as context and have Claude generate a complete, category-specific RFP for a new sourcing event in minutes — not hours. The RFP will include scope of work, evaluation criteria, pricing structure requirements, and vendor qualification requirements tailored to your specific category.
What you'll need
- A Claude Pro account at claude.ai ($20/mo) — the Projects feature and file uploads require Pro
- A prior RFP document in Word or PDF (your own or a template)
- Your requirements for the new category you're sourcing
- Time needed: 30-45 minutes first time; 15-20 minutes for subsequent RFPs
- Cost: $20/month for Claude Pro
How-To Guide: Draft a Full RFP Using Claude with Uploaded Context
Step 1: Set up a Claude Project for RFP work
- Log into claude.ai with your Pro account
- Click Projects in the left sidebar (or "New Project" if you see that option)
- Click + New Project and name it "Procurement RFPs"
- You'll see a project workspace with a text area for project instructions (the "system prompt")
What you should see: A project page with an instructions panel on the right and a chat area on the left.
